Community Guidelines
BlockMarshal · Last updated April 2026
BlockMarshal is a community safety platform. Everything in the app depends on trust — trust that reports are real, that SOS alerts are genuine, and that neighbours are acting in good faith. These guidelines exist to protect that trust. Every user is expected to follow them.
1. Incident feed (Community Alerts)
- Only post about real incidents you have witnessed yourself or have reliable, first-hand information about.
- Be specific: include what happened, where it happened, and when.
- Add photos or video when it is safe to do so.
- Do not post rumours, unverified gossip, or speculation.
- Do not post personal grudges or disputes disguised as safety alerts.
- Do not include other people's names, phone numbers, or home addresses in public posts.
- False reports may result in account suspension or termination.
2. Block Watch
- Block Watch groups are for genuine neighbourhood safety discussions.
- Be respectful to other members — disagree without personal attacks.
- Do not share group members' personal information outside the group.
- Group admins are responsible for maintaining group standards.
- Block Watch is not a forum for political commentary, commercial promotion, gossip, or personal disputes.
- Report inappropriate posts using the in-app report button.
3. Stolen items
- Only report items that genuinely belong to you.
- Provide accurate serial numbers, IMEI numbers, or VIN numbers.
- Include clear, recent photos of the item whenever possible.
- False stolen item reports will result in immediate account termination.
- If you recover a stolen item, mark it as recovered promptly.
4. SOS alerts
- Only use SOS for genuine emergencies where you need immediate help.
- False SOS alerts waste community resources and cause real panic.
- If you trigger SOS by accident, cancel it immediately.
- Always call Ghana emergency services for life-threatening situations: 191 (Police), 192 (Fire), 193 (Ambulance), 112 (General Emergency).
5. Case files
- Case files are private to you.
- Record evidence as soon as possible while details are fresh.
- Be truthful — case files may be shared with police or used in legal proceedings.
6. General rules
- Be truthful. False information undermines community trust.
- Be respectful. Treat other users with dignity.
- Be responsible. Your posts and reports affect real people.
- Protect privacy. Don't share others' personal information.
- Report violations. Use the in-app report button.
7. Enforcement
- First violation: Warning and content removal.
- Second violation: Temporary account suspension (7 days).
- Serious violations (false SOS, false stolen reports, harassment): immediate account termination.
BlockMarshal reserves the right to remove any content that violates these guidelines. If you believe an enforcement action was taken in error, contact us at support@blockmarshal.com.
